FRANSCHHOEK VINEYARD HOPPER TOUR |
By far the best way to experience the beautiful surroundings, architecture, gourmet and wines of the Franschhoek Valley is to explore with the Franschhoek Vineyard Hopper where you are free to hop on anytime and hop off anywhere along the route.
The Franschhoek Vineyard Hopper is ideal for guests with a real interest in wine, but with limited time and for those that do not want to be rushed with their tasting experience as is the case with most scheduled tours.
The four Franschhoek Wine Estates that will be visited are as follow.
Cabriere Wine Estate
Home to Pierre Jourdan and
Haute Cabriere wines, the beautiful Cabriere
Estate, situated on the banks of the Franschhoek River, was granted to the
French Huguenot refugee farmer, Pierre Jourdan, on 22 December 1694. Today these
amazing wines can be tasted high up against the Franschhoek Pass with
breathtaking views of the Huguenot Valley. The award winning Haute
Cabriere Restaurant is also located on the
premises for lunch and dinners.
Dieu Donne Vineyards
Situated high on the steep, southwest facing slopes of the Franschhoek Mountain,
Dieu Donne literally means “God Given” and their
spectacular views endorse this translation. Enjoy a
picnic lunch (must be
pre booked) or a cheese platter (from their
deli) on the grass banks overlooking the valley. The restaurant should be
completed during 2007. Come fall in love with the
Huguenot traditions while tasting their beautiful wines.
Grande Provence Estate
Home to the Angels Tears wines, Grande
Provence wears her 300 year history with dignity. True French traditions await
you when entering the gates to this lovely estate. Sample some award winning
wines in the ultra modern tasting room,
browse around the art gallery, stroll
through the Jonkershuis or simply enjoy the
tranquility that Grande Provence offers you. Elegant
dining offers you the opportunity to sample one of Franschhoek’s
finest menus.
Mont Rochelle Wine Estate
Mont Rochelle is situated against the Klein Dassenberg Mountains and overlooks
the Franschhoek Valley. The gorgeous Cape Dutch Manor
House, surrounded by stunning gardens
and horse paddocks, as well as the
tasting room staff, offers a homely feeling
with personalized service and true South African
hospitality. Fine wines, cellar tours, wine tasting, horse riding,
picnic, private dinners in the cellar and accommodation all form part of present
and future plans at Mont Rochelle.
This tour only operates from
Franschhoek hotels and guest houses.
Guests will be collected from their
accommodation time permitting.
