Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is situated on the hills above Walker Bay, 165 km’s from Cape Town, just past Hermanus, the whale capital of South Africa.

The area is world renowned for its natural beauty and amazing diversity of life and is also one of the best land based viewing in the world for the Southern Right Whales.

At Grootbos you will experience nature like never before. Let our expert guides introduce you to the wonders of the Fynbos. Discover the fascinating relationships between the insects, birds, mammals and flowering plants of this diverse ecosystem. Smell the aromatic wild herbs, watch for exquisite birds and be awed by the scenery that surrounds you.

Take a meandering path through an ancient Milkwood forest, where thousand year old trees send exploratory branches in search of sunlight, or visit one of the remnant Afro-montane forests on the reserve.

Young and old can walk, explore in a four wheel drive or take a horse ride and enjoy the views from the elevation of a comfortable saddle on a well schooled horse or pony.

Your expert nature guide will lead you on a journey of discovery into the complex and fascinating world of Fynbos Ecosystems.
13h00-14h00 Lunch
A time to relax and enjoy a gourmet meal, the spectacular view and our 5 star hospitality.
14h00-15h45 Coastal Excursion
Enjoy a tailor made afternoon of whale watching in season (May–November), a visit to the Klipgat Cave or a stroll along endless white beaches.
15h45 Tea and Cake
Enjoy a cup of tea / coffee with a slice of delicious cake before departing for Cape Town.
17h00-17h30 Arrive back at your hotel or guest house
